1971 VW Bus Stock Carburetors
Our selection of Volkswagen Bus Carburetors includes replacement carburetors, manifolds, gaskets, accelerator cable, fuel filters, air filters, and more.
What Carburetor do I need?
The best way to identify what Carburetor you need is to find the model number stamped on the side of carburetor float bowl on your current Carburetor.(e.g. Usually you will find a model number like "30PICT" or "34PICT" stamped on carburetor body.)
If you're not sure what Carburetor you require the next step would be to identify if you have a Single Port or Dual Port Engine. Please keep in mind this information is for stock engines only. We have no way of knowing what is on your car if it has been modified.
Single Port Carburetors:

It is very important to know the difference between single port and dual port intake manifolds. Although the 1971 VW Bus came with single port engines and carburetors, many have changed to dual port engines and intake manifolds. Our replacement carburetors have a 12 volt choke element which can be used on a 6 volt system but will take twice as long to warm up. We do not offer a 6 volt choke.
Check the Manifold. If it is one solid continuous unit from carburetor to heads, you have a single port carburetor and Single port long block engine.Single port intake is bolted to heads using 10mm nuts on 6mm studs.
Single Port Carburetors:
Dual Port Carburetors:
A "dual port" carburetor does not have two ports! It is just a larger carburetor designed for use with the larger, dual port intake manifold.

If your engine has this, your engine (despite the year of the car) has a dual port intake manifold and would use the 34PICT VW carburetor, also known as the "dual port carburetor".
Dual Port Carburetors:
1971 VW Bus Performance Carburetors
Give your 1971 VW Bus a boost with our complete selection of VW Performance Carburetors. Unfortunately, that carburetor, as well as most of the parts for the 25, 36, 40 Horsepower Engines, are not made today. We do not offer any Performance Carburetors for the original 25, 36, 40 Horsepower Engines. However, if you do have a 1300-1600cc based engine, we do offer a number of Performance Carburetor options. We are proud to feature Weber Carburetors, known for their high-quality performance. Our Weber VW Carburetor Kits come complete with intake manifold and air filter. We offer many performance carburetor choices including Weber Progressive Carburetor Kits, Weber 34 ICT Dual Carb Kits, 40 IDF, 44 IDF Single and Dual VW Carburetor Kits and Dual Weber 48 IDA Kits.
1971 VW Bus Fuel Pumps
The original VW 25 Horsepower 1100cc Engine has a Fuel Pump that mounts to the SIDE of the Engine Case, to the LEFT of the Distributor. Unfortunately, that Fuel Pump, as well as most of the parts for the 25, 36, 40 Horsepower Engines, are not made today. We do not offer stock Fuel Pumps for the original 25, 36, 40 Horsepower Engines. However, if you do have a 1300-1600cc Based Engine, we do offer the Long Rod/Generator Style and Short Rod/Alternator Style Fuel Pumps. We also offer a huge selection of fuel pump parts including fuel filters, braided fuel hose, fuel pump drive rods, gaskets, and pressure regulators.
Am I ordering the correct Fuel Pump for my car?
Alternator and Generator Fuel Pumps look identical on the outside, but they mount differently under the base. Pay attention to where the metal flange is located underside. Generator flange is recessed inside of mount. Alternator flange exceeds the end of mount. This is essential to check as your fuel DRIVE ROD will either be too short (no contact with flange) or too long (break the flange on impact).

We offer complete exhaust systems, as well as replacement exhaust components such as replacement tips, heater boxes, j-tubes, installation hardware, and more. Our performance exhausts for your Volkswagen Bus are offered in stainless steel for a long lasting, rust-free finish or in silver ceramic coating that looks great and keeps your engine cooler by reflecting heat back into the exhaust tube. Our performance exhaust systems will not fit a Bus that has a stock 25, 36 or 40 horsepower VW engine. These exhausts will only fit 1300-1600 based VW engines, which are commonly swapped into early Buss.
1971 VW Bus Heater Boxes
Replacing your VW Heater Box will allow you to use the defroster and cabin heater without compromising your engine's horsepower output. Our VW J-Tubes replace the heater box. They lighten up the weight of your exhaust and allow for more performance exhaust options. However, they eliminate the defroster and cabin heater in your 1971 VW Bus.Our heater boxes will not fit an early 1971 VW Bus with a stock 25, 36, and some early 40 horsepower VW engines. Our selection of heater boxes will only fit later 1200cc-1600cc based VW engines, which are commonly swapped into early Buss.
1971 VW Bus Engine Electric
The 1971 VW Bus was built with a 6 Volt electrical system, although many have been converted to 12 Volt or alternator. Our 6 Volt Bosch generators are rebuilt by the manufacturer to be to just like new. Please Note: All rebuilt generators require a refundable core charge. This will be refunded to you once your old part is received. We also offer a full selection of generators and alternators to keep your 1971 VW Bus powered up and running smoothly. We offer both new and rebuilt generators. Our rebuilt generators are rebuilt by the manufacturer to be just like new. We also offer our Alternator Conversion Kit. It includes everything you need to convert your VW from a generator to an alternator.
1971 VW Bus Tune Up Kits
Air-cooled engines tend to vibrate more than other engines. This causes vital engine components to shift from their optimal settings. Tuning up your air-cooled VW will minimize this vibration and keep your car running strong. We recommend a tune up every 10,000-12,000 miles. We offer three 1971 VW Bus Tune Up Kits to choose from, each described in more detail at the bottom of this page. Our VW Tune Up Kits feature high-quality products made by Bosch. Please Note: Tune Up Kits are made only for use with the Bosch Style 009 VW Distributor (part # 0231178009). The parts included in these kits will not fit other distributors.
